Every first Friday of each month Downtown Phoenix comes to life with creatively stimulating local talent. There are many different galleries to go to depending upon your taste in art. The featured artists use many different mediums from charcoal to oils and sculpting to metals as well as video and photography to architectural design and fashion. You will always see something that will raise your awareness or just simply astonish you. There is a free shuttle bus that will take you from gallery to gallery giving you a moment to discuss what you had seen, liked and disliked. There are always many interesting people to discuss pieces with or just to enjoy personal styles.

Here is a list of some of the galleries you can go to: The Alwun House at 1204 East Roosevelt Street and is not only open on First Fridays but also 12pm to 6pm, Tuesday through Friday and it is free to enter. A.S.U. at the Downtown Phoenix Campus Galleria, The Mercado Building C at 502 East Monroe Street. Which too is not only open on First Fridays but 8am to 6pm, Monday through Friday and 6pm to 9pm on First Friday. The Central Gallery in Burton Barr Central Library at 1221 North Central Avenue. Bentley projects at 215 East Grant Street which you can also catch other exhibits from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The Cathedral Center For The Arts, Te Fair Trade Gallery at 1020 North 1^st Avenue open from 10am to 4pm, Monday through Friday and admission there is free as well. Also in the same building there is The Olney Gallery at 100 West Roosevelt Street which is open 6am to 7pm, Monday through Thursday; 6am to 10pm, Friday and 7am to 3pm, Saturday through Sunday. The Costello - Childs Contemporary Fine Art at 1001 North 3^rd Avenue, suite 2, too is also open 10am to 6pm, Tuesday through Saturday; and by appointment. The Eye Lounge at 419 East Roosevelt Street Fridays from 5pm to 9pm and 1pm to 5pm Saturdays; 7pm to 10pm on First Fridays and by appointment. 515 , a contemporary art space at 515 East Roosevelt Street open 5pm to 9pm on Friday and 1pm to 5pm on Saturday or by appointment, admission is free. The Gallery Celtica & I.L. Hayden Art Studio at 509 East Roosevelt Street and the hours are 7pm to 10pm on First Fridays. The Herberger Theater Center Gallery at 222 East Monroe Street in the center of Downtown open from 10am to 5pm, Monday through Friday during performances and 7pm to 10pm on First Fridays. The Modified Arts at 407 East Roosevelt Street. The hours are 7pm to 10pm on First Fridays and there is no admission fee. The MonOrchid Gallery at 214 East Roosevelt Street open 7pm to 10pm on First Fridays. The Museo Chicano at 147 East Adams Street open from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The Paulina Miller Gallery at 817 North 1^st Street and the hours are from 1pm to 5pm, Thursday through Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturday as well as third Friday from 7pm to 10pm, and of coarse First Friday. The Phoenix Center Visual Art Gallery at 214 East Moreland Street Monday through Thursday 9am to 5pm and by appointment. The Phoenix College Fine Arts Gallery at1202 West Thomas Road. The hours are from9am to 7pm Monday through Thursday and 9am to 5pm on Friday, admission is free. The Red Dog Gallery at 812 North 3^rd Street which is open from 5pm to 9pm on Friday, 1pm to 5pm on Saturday and 6pm to 10pm on First Fridays again admission is free.
